Ward 14 Tree Advisory Committee

Over the last two years I have worked with a number of small community groups to maintain and/or expand the tree canopy. Currently, Ward 14 residents are actively engaged in ongoing tree watering in the West Bend, looking for planting opportunities on Cowan Ave and the RMRA has undertaking the huge task of developing a tree planting plan to use as a model for ccommunity-based initiatives, in response to the City of Toronto‘s Change is in the Air document.

I believe that the survival of the urban forest is vital for both our community and the environment. The continued support from Ward 14 residents to become more actively engaged in community planting projects has inspired me to start a Ward 14 Tree Advisory Committee.

I would like to invite all residents interested in the urban forest to meet with me, Urban Forestry and a representative from the RMRA to begin a conversation on how we can work together to keep the Parkdale – High Park canopy strong for generations to come.

Our first meeting will be held on October 23rd at 6:30pm at the High Park Public Library, 228 Roncesvalles.

I hope you will join me in this very important initiative.
