Roncesvalles Village Historical Society and Colborne Lodge, City of Toronto Cultural Services jointly present a panel discussion on John Howard, the first City of Toronto’s Surveyor and Engineer and an accomplished architect and artist. He is most famous for having deeded the original portion of High Park to the city in 1876. Featured speakers are Catherine Raven, a Historical Interpreter at Colborne Lodge and Dr Janice Kulyk Keefer, Professor Emerita, University of Guelph and the author of a forthcoming novel on John Howard. Both panellists will discuss Howard’s remarkable legacy after coming to Canada in 1832. Five years later he built Colborne Lodge on the 165 acre property that he and his wife Jemima named High Park. The evening will be moderated by Roncesvalles native Andrew J. Borkowski, author of the Toronto Book Awards shortlisted story collection Copernicus Avenue.
