King Liberty Pedestrian/Cyclist Link Study

Below is a message from the City of Toronto Public Consultation Unit:

“On November 29, 2011, City of Toronto Council authorized staff to issue a Notice of Completion for the King Liberty Pedestrian/Cyclist Link study.
The approved design is a bridge spaning the rail corridor between the west end of Douro Street and the west end of Western Battery Road. In order for the bridge to be fully accessible to all users, stairs and an elevator are recommended at each end.

City Council has directed the detailed design of the bridge be funded from Section 37 contributions or any other appropriate third party funding, with a zero net impact to the City, and be undertaken as soon as these funds become available. We are aiming for no long term capital costs to the City for this project. If funding is secured, construction of the crossing would likely not be possible earlier than 2014, in order to avoid conflict with the GO/Metrolinx Strachan Avenue Overpass construction work.
