With the High Park Zoo slated to close June, please make sure to come out to a community meeting on Monday April 9th/2012, at the Grenadier Cafe (in High Park) at 7PM.
The ‘Friends of High Park Zoo’ have been working tirelessly with Ward 13 Councillor Doucette and local residents to fundraise and spread awareness about this great community asset.

“The High Park Zoo is a popular year-round destination that has been a highlight for visitors to High Park Park for 112 years. The Zoo is free to the public and attracts over 100,000 visitors each year.
The Zoo’s domestic and exotic animals offer both enjoyment and educational opportunities for people of all ages. The Zoo’s 50 animal residents include bison, llamas, peacocks, reindeer, highland cattle, sheep, yaks, emus, ducks, wallabies and capybara.
However, City Council recently adopted a change to the budget that will require the City to find alternative funding sources in order to continue to operate the High Park Zoo beyond June of 2012. By directing a donation to the Zoo through the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation, you can help support the continued operation of this valuable park asset and public attraction for all to enjoy!”
