High Park Nature Centre – Christmas Bird Count for Kids and The Gift of Nature

Round up your birding pals and help us count the birds. We will be hiking the trails to find the winter birds who are toughing-it-out this winter including chickadees, nuthatches and cardinals. The data we collect will be submitted and will help bird conservation.

Our indoor introduction will teach you about winter birds we hope to find in High Park, some rare birds you should look for and how to use binoculars. We will then go out to our feeder station to practice our ID skills while tallying the birds at our feeders for FeederWatch. Then we head out onto the trails! Small groups of families will be led by experienced birders to tally all of the birds we can find. We will return to the Nature Centre to compile our tally numbers and warm up.

An all ages family event.

Please bring binoculars and field guides, if you have them!
