Bridge on Dufferin Street over Rail Corridor to be Closed

Councillor Perks was advised within the last hour that the Dufferin Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic on June 12, 2013. The bridge will remain open for pedestrian and cyclists.

The Dufferin Street Bridge is south of Springhurst Avenue and goes over the GO Transit/Metrolinx Rail Corridor.

The bridge was scheduled for replacement in 2016 but as a result of recent inspections the City has made the decision to close and replace the existing structure sooner.

The reconstruction will include the installation of a temporary bridge in advance of the full reconstruction being completed. The temporary bridge will be open to vehicular traffic. More information on the opening of the temporary bridge will be available in late June.

Our office will provide more information as it becomes available.
