High Park Invasive Species Removal

Sunday, September 9, 2018, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Bloor Street entrance of High Park (Bloor St. W. and High Park Ave.), Toronto, ON

We will plant a variety of native plants that thrive in our Black Oak Savannah restoration sites. This time, we will return to Site 10A, near Bloor Street, where we last planted in June 2015.

Late summer is perfect for viewing native species such as goldenrods, asters and native grasses. It is also a great time for planting native perennials, like smooth rose, cylindrical blazing star, cup plant, Joe Pye weed, black-eyed Susan, butterfly milkweed, harebell, wild bergamot, sky-blue aster, cardinal flower, great blue lobelia;  grasses, like Indian, bottlebrush, little and big bluestem, Canada wild rye; and shrubs, like wild raspberry.

The Boulevard Beds group will also be working to update our demonstration garden with new plants.

Meet us directly at planting site, by the Bloor Street / High Park Avenue entrance. If you prefer, you may join the smaller group at the Boulevard Beds, in front of the Grenadier Restaurant. We will work from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm.
