I will be holding a public meeting to discuss the demolition of the Dunn Avenue bridge over the Metrolinx Rail Corridor and the Dowling Avenue bridge over the Metrolinx Rail Corridor and the F.G. Gardiner Expressway. Following the demolitions, the City will install new, temporary structures while an Environmental Assessment for permanent designs takes place. City staff will be present to answer your questions.
This work is necessary as both bridges are approaching the end of their service lives. The project is part of the Council-approved 2015 Capital Works Program.

Public input invited on bylaw harmonization and guidelines for sidewalk cafés and marketing displays in Toronto
The City of Toronto is conducting a review of the bylaws governing sidewalk cafés and marketing displays on the public right-of-way (sidewalks). The intent of the review is to harmonize the six different bylaws that currently regulate these activities as well as review permit fees.
At the same time, guidelines are being created to inform the design and layout of sidewalk cafés to ensure that cafés and sidewalks are safe and accessible.
A draft bylaw and guidelines have been developed with the help of input from a series of public consultation meetings and surveys that were conducted with stakeholders in 2014. A new bylaw will ensure that consistent standards and permit processes apply across Toronto.
Starting next week, the City is holding five information sessions to obtain input on the direction of the draft bylaw and guidelines. The session on Monday, September 21 is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All other sessions will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

Public input invited on rules/guidelines for responsible dog ownership
The City of Toronto is conducting a review of its Animals Bylaw to determine how the City can effectively balance, manage and address dog behaviour, owner responsibility and public safety.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 349, Animals, outlines registration/licensing requirements and the requirement to leash dogs on public property except where permitted, such as in off-leash parks. The bylaw also covers how the City responds to dogs at large (on the loose) or dogs that have bitten people or animals.
The goal of the review is to address City Council’s direction to provide recommendations on how the City can effectively respond to incidents of dog bites and dogs that may pose a risk to public safety.
The City will hold the consultation meetings to obtain public input. All meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following dates:

I have been advised through City Planning staff that a Re-Zoning application has been filed for 422-436 Roncesvalles Avenue and 76 Howard Park Avenue.
The site includes two commercial properties: 422 and 424 Roncesvalles Avenue and the former funeral parlor at 430-436 Roncesvalles Avenue, as well as the surface parking lot at the rear of these buildings located at 76 Howard Park Avenue.
I have a regular practice of requesting that developers meet with community members to review developers intentions and community comments prior to submitting a development application. The developer can then amend their proposal prior to their formal submission to the city. This practice has been well received and has helped to shape development in Ward 14.
This developer met with the community in April, 2015. They have now submitted an application that proposes an eight-storey mixed-use building containing 93 residential units plus six, four-storey grade-related townhouse units fronting onto the proposed private driveway off of Howard Park Avenue with 71 residential and 6 visitor parking spaces. Total of 99 bicycle spaces.
The eight storey building will have a height of 25.7 metres to the top of the eighth floor and 29.5 including the mechanical penthouse.

City Planning staff are reviewing the application. A preliminary report on the zoning by-law amendment application will be submitted to Community Council in the near future.
There will be a statutory community meeting held once the city review takes place which will include an opportunity for further community input. City Planning staff and I will provide details on this meeting once information is available.
