via Metrolinx:

“Intermittent overnight track work between Bathurst St. and St. Clair Ave.

For the next 2 to 4 weeks there will be intermittent overnight track work from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. There is a possibility the work may extend into the weekend. The work will occur between Bathurst St. and St. Clair Ave. We can only complete this work during the night when there is reduced train activity. Expect to see lighting and track surfacing equipment as crews move along the rail corridor. Some noise and vibration can be expected when this work passes through your area. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Branch Out – Toronto Trees Group Meeting – Wendesday, July 15 7PM

Posted on July 14, 2015

Wednesday July 15, 2015 , 7-9 p.m. at St Mathews Clubhouse at 450 Broadview Avenue (Parks and Trees Foundation Clubhouse )

This spring, members from several Toronto volunteer tree groups met to discuss our experiences and challenges. They agreed that there is much to be gained by forming a network of Toronto tree groups (working name -Branch Out). They believe that as a network of groups (and individuals) they will be able to share resources, and advocate more effectively for the urban forest.

This is a collaborative venture and all input/help is welcome.

LCBO Site- 11 Brock Avenue

Posted on July 10, 2015

Many of you may be aware that the LCBO at 11 Brock Avenue is moving to 1357 Queen Street West in the near future.

The Province has deemed the property at 11 Brock Avenue as surplus and are beginning the process to sell it.

This week at City Council, Councillor Perks received approval from Council to direct the City Manager to express an interest in this property.  http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2015.MM8.19

The property at 11 Brock Avenue provides a unique opportunity to work with the Province of Ontario to create much needed new affordable housing at this location.

The City of Toronto and the Government of Ontario have a mandate to create affordable housing in mixed-use neighbourhoods where people can thrive and access the services and employment they need.

Our office will keep you up-to-date on the progress of this site.

The Local Dish

A new City of Toronto initiative called The Local Dish invites residents to share their favourite local food recipes and help to build Toronto’s largest collection of recipes online. The collection, called The Local Dish, is hosted on Pinterest.

The goal is to encourage residents to choose local food more often, and to educate people about the abundance of fresh and delicious food that is grown in Ontario. The Local Dish also highlights the additional benefits of choosing local food, including support for local jobs and local farmers, and helping to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with food travel.

Each month, The Local Dish will select an “all-star” veggie or fruit – one that is abundantly available in Ontario at that time – and invite residents to share their favourite recipes that feature the ingredient in a prominent way. Residents who submit recipes will be eligible for monthly prizes.

The all-star for the month of July is zucchini. The Local Dish is engaging some of Toronto’s top restaurants and their chefs who are passionate champions of local food.

The Local Dish is the latest addition to Live Green Toronto’s suite of programs. More information is available at http://www.livegreentoronto.ca.
