Posted on April 17, 2014

Want to become a board member of the most exciting public transit organization in Toronto?

TTCriders is looking for energetic transit advocates to join our Board of Directors at a significant time in the history of the organization.  Apply before April 19th here.

About the Board Position

TTCriders’ Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of TTCriders. The board’s responsibilities include fundraising, financial management, membership recruitment, upholding our vision for better transit and more affordable fares, establishing committees, assigning budgets, organizational development, and more.

Board members govern the organization for two years. All members of our board must be dues-paying members of TTCriders, at least 18 years of age, and not have a bankruptcy that is undischarged. Board members must attend regular meetings, and are encouraged to sit on another committee in addition to the board (such as our Campaigns Committee). In total, members are expected to contribute approximately 10-12 hours a month to TTCriders.

We are looking for candidates who reflect the diversity of TTC riders and will strive to have at least one representative from the following regions: Toronto/East York, Etobicoke/York, North York, and Scarborough. In addition, we are hoping to represent each following categories of members: WheelTrans user/Person with a disability, student, senior, and person on social assistance. If board members are representing a group, they must make it transparent from the outset.

If you have the financial and/or accounting experience to be the board’s Treasurer, please specify in your application.

Application Process

Applications are due by April 19, 2014. Apply online.

  • A nominating committee will conduct phone interviews with candidates between April 22 and April 25.
  • All candidates selected by the nominating committee must be endorsed by the current TTCriders’ Board, and elected by members at TTCriders’ Annual General Meeting on May 10, 2014 (stay tuned for further details regarding our AGM)
