Baird Park – Dogs Off Leash Area Information

Posted on April 7, 2014

On Sunday, April 6, 2014, police were called to the leash-free dog park at 275 Keele Street (Baird Park).

Police attended and located several pieces of chocolate that had been scattered within the fenced area of the park.

Studies indicate that some forms of chocolate may be harmful or fatal for dogs.

City officials closed the dog park, pending further investigation. After a thorough cleaning this morning Parks Staff have reopened the Baird Dogs Off Leash Area.

Staff will increase regular inspections of the Dogs Off Leash Area but ask that park users pay extra attention to their environment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1100, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637), or Leave A Tip on Facebook.

Toronto Police are testing a sample of the chocolate found scattered in the DOLA. Our office will continue to share any information we receive from Toronto Police and/or City Parks Staff.
