Dufferin Underpass Update

Posted on January 15, 2010

The Dufferin Underpass is expected to be complete by the end of July, 2010. Break-through of the Queen Street wall will take place in mid-to-end of February.

As part of this project I have negotiated the installation of a park at north/west corner of Queen. I have attached a draft of the park design. If anyone has any questions or suggestions regarding plantings please contact my office.

As you know Luis Jacob (Toronto) was selected for his proposal “The Hall of Community Spirits.”It is hoped the 16-18 colourful tie-dyed panels will transform the industrial transportation structure of the Dufferin Underpass into an imaginative and inspiring space for decades to come.

Finally, I would like to advise folks that the rail bridges over Queen Street will be raised by approximately 90cm to their final elevations over the weekend of January 23rd and 24th. Queen Street will be closed to vehicles for that weekend. Pedestrians will still be able to pass through. All necessary permits have been secured. (Similar procedure to the last closure).
