Update regarding the garbage program

Posted on October 31, 2008

Update on New Bins:

Solid Waste Managment has advised that a number of residents who ordered the Medium-size Garbage Bin will not have these bins delivered prior to November 1, 2008 (the start date for the Solid Waste fees). Due to the high number of residents City-wide who chose this size, Solid Waste Management will not be able to produce them in time for delivery by November 1st.

Residents who do not receive the medium bin by November 1st will be receiving a supply of temporary pink garbage bag tags to use until the Garbage Bins are delivered. These temporary bag tags will be mailed via Canada Post to affected residents late this week. The 10 bag tags can be used until the new Garbage Bin is delivered.

Residents in Ward 14 should have received pink Garbage Tags this week. If you did not receive either your Garbage Bin or pink Tags please contact my office and my staff will be happy to inquire

As part of the program, effective November 1, 2008 all residential curb side garbage must be placed in bins or affixed with a pink or yellow tag for collection. However, Solid Waste staff will be exercising flexibility in the coming weeks as residents become more familiar with the bin program.

To contact Solid Waste Management Services -Bin Program directly please

call 416-392-BINS or email Target70@toronto.ca.

What to do with Old Bins:

Residents who missed their pick up date for their old blue boxes may take them to Solid Waste Drop off depots. For details, please see http://www.toronto.ca/garbage/depots.htm.
