Please be advised that the application for 1638-1650 Bloor Street West will be brought forward to the Tuesday October 7th, 2008 meeting of Toronto and East York Community Council.
The item # for this report is TE 19.16 and the staff report can be found at http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/2008/agendas/te.htm
I have spoken extensively with the City’s Planning department and understand that a supplementary report will be coming forward as well. This report will detail Planning’s comments as well as comments and concerns that you raised at the community pre-consultation as well as the public meetings for the Avenue Segment study and the development proposal. I also understand that report will be supplementary (meaning not meeting to clerk’s deadlines for the official agenda) because of continuing conversations between the developer’s team and the City’s Planning department up until last week.
As soon as this report is finalized I will be sending an electronic version to all of you.
Also, a reminder that at this same meeting, a sign variance report for 1540 Bloor St. West (“Giraffe”) will be going forward. This will be item number TE 19.2
As you are aware, these are very large fascia signs and they cover every window on the East and south elevation of the building. Moreover, the signs are installed without a sign permit. Please be advised that I will be speaking against these signs.
Please note that if you wish to depute on either of these, you must use an item number. To depute, please contact Acting Administrator Frances Pritchard at 416-392-033 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Recognized as a signature event of the City of Toronto, I am pleased that Nuit Blanche’s Zone C, which includes Parkdale and Liberty Village, will be host to 28 independent artists and 2 curated Exhibitions during this year’s all night celebration.
Join me on this unique sleepless night of activity to celebrate the City and your community, transformed by art. A special congratulations goes to businesses, residents and stakeholders in Parkdale and Liberty Village for working together to create such dynamic pieces in your neighbourhoods. I look forward to visiting them all!

This week I met with a few of the dedicated Wabash Building Society members to get an update on the Fieldhouse work.
Doug Bennet, chair of WBS, outlined a very busy work schedule for this fall. Folks in the community were hard at work painting the first and second floors of the building on September 27-28 (paint and flooring were donated by local businesses!!). More trees were also purchased a couple of weeks ago (with a HUGE thanks to Doug Bennet and Mary Tremain).
Here are just a few things to expect in the coming weeks:
-downstairs sub floor installation weekend of Oct. 4-5
-upstairs flooring installation second or third week of October
-downstairs final flooring installation sometime after the sub floor is laid down — date to be confirmed
-Tree planting/weeding/landscaping: weekend of Oct. 18/19
Please visit http://www.soraurenpark.com/ for exact dates once they are confirmed.
Just a quick reminder to folks that I will be hosting a public meeting on October 9th, at Parkdale PS (staffroom) to discuss the capital improvements that will be completed this year at West Lodge Park. I hope to discuss future opportunities for park upgrades as well! Please see attached flyer for details.
I look forward to meeting you all and working with you to enhance this great community asset. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Amy Johnston in my office at email@example.com
