On Halloween night, I had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with “spooky”parents and children at Mazaryk Cowan Community Centre. I presented best costume trophies to children from ages 0-13, as well as presenting certificates for the Halloween colouring contest. I also enjoyed painting ghosts, spiders and pumpkins and more on faces of children and adults of all ages. As messy as this task became (!), I had a wonderful time face painting and talking with folks about families, friends and experiences in the Parkdale Community. Congratulations to the winners and I look forward to seeing the little ducks, Spidermen, unicorns and scary skeletons again next year!
On Thursday November 1st I joined hundreds of Roncesvalles-MacDonnell residents at Sorauren Park to celebrate the Annual Pumpkin Parade. I enjoyed walking among the over 600 lit up pumpkins that residents brought to the park. It was an eerie and awesome experience! I look forward to this event next year, when we can use the new Wabash Fieldhouse for more scary delights!
On October 31st, 2007 I had the complete honour of being blessed by His Holiness the 14th the Dalai Lama. His Holiness’ words truly resonated with me (and so did his wonderful sense of humour!). I would like to extend my gratitude to the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario for inviting me to this event at 40 Titan Avenue; the site of the new CTAO temple. I look forward to working with the CTAO and members of the HOPE community garden to prepare for the naming of the HOPE Community Garden in His Holiness’ honour in the coming weeks.
