Meet with me to discuss the City's financial crisis

Posted on September 10, 2007

As you are aware the City is in financial trouble. We need to look at ways to off set provincial downloading in order to continue to provide the level of service currently in place.

I would like to discuss the options available, and hear each respective community’s thoughts and suggestions on how to accomplish this goal. After much deliberation, it has been decided to hold one large ward wide meeting to discuss the city’s financial woes. The date selected is:

Tuesday September 25th, 2007

Fern Avenue Public School

28 Fern Avenue

7-9 pm

Please advise your friends and neighbours of this special evening. I encourage people to come out and to share your thoughts and ideas on the revenue tools, and to find out ways that you can help. Special thanks to the RMRA for providing the location and for hosting this important community meeting. A secondary date has also been discussed with the Westbend Community Association, for those who cannot make it on the 25th. The “Fiscal Fireside Chat” will be held on the following:Monday, September 17, 2007

6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club, In the Baird Park Clubhouse

Keele Street & Humberside Avenue

Thank you to Hilary Bell for helping to organize this meeting. I look forward to seeing you all, and please contact me if you require any clarification.

1540 Bloor Street West Avenue Segment Study Community Meeting

Posted on September 10, 2007

On Thursday September 20th, 2007, a community meeting will be held to discuss the current status of the Avenue Segment Study that Tas DesignBuild (developer for this site) has been working to put together. This meeting will give Tas Design an opportunity to present a working draft of the study for community feedback, concerns and questions. In my previous postings I mentioned that I held a “community pre-consultation” in early May for members to give their initial thoughts and feedback. Since this meeting, an ad hoc committee was formed (Friends of Dundas and Bloor) to represent community member and stakeholder interests. I encourage you to visit their website at http://www.dundasandbloor.ca to learn more about the project and to find out ways that you can get involved. Please see the attached flyer for the community meeting details.
