One-time funding has been made available by Shelter, Support and Housing Administration to seven drop-in centres for extended hours during the winter months. This funding is to ensure that people who are homeless have more options to get out of the cold, use washrooms, have a hot meal and get help to stay at a shelter or move into housing.
This program was approved by Council at its meeting of November 19 and 20, 2007. The report link is http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2007/cd/reports/2007-11-05-cd10-cr.pdf
The Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre, located at 1499 Queen St. West, will be open for the following times (in addition to their regular hours) between December 14, 2007 and March 31, 2008:

Extending hours at drop-in centres during the winter months is part of the City’s winter plan. The City has provided funding for this purpose for the past three seasons. Each year, agencies that provide drop-in services are invited to participate through a request for proposals process.
