Do you know someone who is working to create a more equitable city? Celebrate their important work by nominating them for an award!
Nominations are open for the 2019 Access, Equity and Human Rights (AEHR) Awards. For more than 15 years, the AEHR Awards have been the City of Toronto’s highest honour to recognize people or organizations that have created a more equitable city by addressing discrimination and working to eliminate barriers to equality. The five AEHR Awards are:
- Mino Bimaadiziwin Award (Indigenous Award)
- Disability Access Award
- Constance E. Hamilton Award for Women’s Equality
- Pride Award
- William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award
Award recipients will be recognized at a public event on December 10th, 2019.
Nominees must be Toronto residents or non-profit organizations. For more information, including how to submit a nomination, visit http://toronto.ca/civicawards. The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 13 at 5 p.m.
High Park Stewards invite you to their annual fall planting! Happening September 8 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Meet up in front of the Grenadier Restaurant. A variety of native plants that thrive in the Black Oak Savannah will be planted. There will also be work done in the The Boulevard Beds in front of the Grenadier Restaurant. Tools are provided. Please bring water, a hat, and cover your arms and legs. Please wear socks and closed shoes as well.
