Bloor by the Park BIA Community Open House

Posted on October 20, 2016

You are invited to join members of the Bloor by the Park Business Improvement Area (BIA), the City of Toronto Staff and Electrical Engineering Consultant, to review the pedestrian lighting plans in more detail and to learn additional information about the lighting improvements that will be taking place in 2017.

Increasing lighting is important to address pedestrian activity during the evening hours, establish local identity, and reinforce a sense of time and place.

The pedestrian light poles will be installed along the sidewalks of Bloor Street between Keele Street and Dundas Avenue West. Funding for this project is being provided by the BIA and the City of Toronto. The plans will be displayed at the Open House.

The BIA Board approved the locations and design of the lighting poles. The lighting poles will be installed in 2017. The lighting project will be constructed by City-approved contractors, and paid and maintained by the BIA.

They would like to offer you the opportunity to view the plans before they present them for permit approval.

The City of Toronto has Licensed UberX

Posted on October 20, 2016

All Toronto UberX drivers are now licensed by the City of Toronto. This means that every driver has been screened and their vehicle inspected, as per the new Vehicle-for-Hire Bylaw requirements. Look for an upcoming public education campaign to promote public safety basics. Just remember: only taxicabs can be hailed from the street, and always make sure the driver photo on your app matches the driver in your vehicle.
