The 1975 classic Jaws will light up the big screen at the Saturday, Aug. 13 Sorauren Outdoor Movie event on the park’s Town Square. The evening’s festivities start at 8:30 p.m.

(If you voted for Ghostbusters in our movie poll, note that we subsequently learned our movie licensing agency has taken the original Ghostbusters off the market this summer while the new Ghostbusters is playing. Jaws came second in the poll.)

Rated PG, the shark story is a little scary, especially for the little ones, but you probably knew that already. IMDB’ review page publishes a content advisory for parents.

Jaws is the second movie in the park’s summer series. The third movie in September will be a children’s favourite, at an earlier hour. Watch for the movie poll coming soon.

Jaws will be preceded by a special screening of La Maisonette, a short film produced by filmmakers who live in the neighbourhood. Supporting our local artists!

The week after Jaws, plan a return to the Town Square for the Aug. 20 live screening of The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration, in association with CBC Music.

The Sorauren Outdoor Movie Series is presented by the non-profit Friends of Sorauren Park and its sponsors. Pass-the-hat donations will be accepted at the screening to help cover the costs of licensing, movie equipment and FOSP projects including the forthcoming bake oven for the park.
