Introducing MyWaterToronto: Keep track of your water use and save this summer

Posted on June 9, 2016

MYWaterTOronto Poster

With the warm weather here, residents are reminded that they can track their water use online with MyWaterToronto, a new tool from the City of Toronto that allows customers to view their water use by day, week, month or year.

Customers can assess the tool by visiting www.toronto.ca/mywatertoronto and entering their utility account information. In addition to viewing how much water is used at different times, customers can check a box to add in details such as temperature and precipitation to better understand their water use.

The average household uses approximately 255 litres of water per day. Customers using more than that may wish to look at their water use behaviour, as well as the appliances and fixtures in their home. Prolonged and increased water use can also mean you may have a leak.

For tips on how to save water at home, in the garden and at work, visit: www.toronto.ca/waterefficiency

Dundas Roncesvalles Peace Garden (DRPG) Grand Opening! – Saturday June 11, 2016

Posted on June 9, 2016

The Dundas Roncesvalles Peace Garden turns a barren jut of concrete, at the intersection of Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto, into a new public space of repose under native trees. Peace, not war, is celebrated here, through justice and reconciliation events, artistic and heritage expressions.

GRAND OPENING: 11 a.m. SATURDAY JUNE 11th, 2016 – Join us at the Peace Garden.  Then take a five minute walk down Roncesvalles Avenue to Ritchie Street with us, to an outdoor stage of indigenous music.

Southbound Lanes of Lansdowne from Dundas to Rideau Closed for Watermain Work

Posted on June 9, 2016

The southbound lanes of Lansdowne Avenue, from south of Dundas Street to Rideau Avenue, will be closed from June 13 to September 30 while work takes place to replace the watermain and reconstruct the sidewalk and road in the area.

Construction work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Access to the No Frills Shopping Plaza will be maintained. Cyclists travelling southbound on Lansdowne Avenue, between Bloor Street and College Street, will be diverted west to St. Helen’s Avenue via Lumbervale Avenue, then west onto Dundas Street West and south on Sorauren Avenue. Cyclists travelling northbound on Lansdowne Avenue, between Rideau Avenue and Dundas Street West, will be required to merge with traffic.

During the closure, there will be periods of time when it appears there is no work taking place at the site. This will occur when crews are performing watermain disinfection and custom pipe work. The lane will reopen when the work is complete and the road is fully restored.

47 Lansdowne southbound buses will divert south on Lansdowne Avenue, east on Dundas Street, south on Dufferin Street and west on Queen Street.

Northbound buses will follow their regular routing.

Our office has asked Transportation staff for additional signs on residential streets and for extra traffic enforcement supervision during the closure.
