More compost sites!
Due to popular demand, I have arranged for three extra compost locations and the compost is FREE and available for pick up as of 10am on Saturday April 18th :

In addition, April 17th is the City of Toronto’s Annual Community Clean up. Please don’t forget to register your event or group by April 11 by going online at www.toronto.ca/litter or calling 416-392-7899.
Registration allows City staff to arrange special same-day litter pick-up. The City encourages participants to sort recyclables into their proper containers.

The City of Toronto is undertaking watermain and sanitary sewer replacement on Roncesvalles Avenue from Queen
Street West to Boustead Avenue, with construction anticipated to begin in late June or early July 2009.
As part of the design process, geotechnical investigations, including drilling for borehole samples, are required to
determine the subsurface and soil conditions.
The City and TTC have coordinated the work to try to minimize disruptions to traffic and streetcar service. To that
end, the borehole drilling within the streetcar track allowance on Roncesvalles Avenue has been scheduled for the

• 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 29, 2009
TTC will replace streetcar service with bus service for the times listed above.
To accommodate the work crews and equipment involved in the work, lane restrictions will be instituted along
Roncesvalles Avenue. In order to maintain traffic in both the northbound and southbound directions, the two curb
lanes will have to be made available to traffic.
Parking will not be available along Roncesvalles Avenue for some of the time that the geotechnical activities
are ongoing. Parking will be progressively made available as work crews complete their work in each
section of Roncesvalles Avenue.
To help the work progress as smoothly and as quickly as possible, we ask that you refrain from parking along
Roncesvalles Avenue close to or during the time that drilling activities are ongoing. Vehicles found to be parked on
Roncesvalles Avenue and blocking traffic operations will be towed to nearby sidestreets. Please note that these
vehicles will be removed from Roncesvalles Avenue only for the purposes of facilitating the geotechnical work and
maintaining traffic operations; these vehicles will not be ticketed. Paid duty police officers will be on site to monitor
any towing operations.
The borehole locations are as follows: Queen, Grafton, Marion, Galley, Garden, Wright, Constance, Grenadier, Geoffrey, Fermanagh, Neepawa, Howard Pk. Ritchie and Boustead.

20 Minute Toronto Makeover
More than 140,000 Torontonians took a bag and glove in hand to fight litter at last years annual 20 minute clean up. The sixth annual GTA-wide 20-Minute Makeover, taking place at 2 p.m., on Friday, April 24th, 2009 is gearing up to be the most successful year to date.
Special litter bags and gloves for the sixth annual 20-Minute Toronto Makeover are now available at participating Toronto/GTA Pizza Pizza retail outlets and Toronto’s Recreation Community Centres. Get equipped and join students, seniors, business professionals and government officials and staff in the city-wide 20-minute clean-up taking place on Friday, April 24th at 2 p.m.

The 10th Annual Lori’s Legacy Walkathon Saturday, May 9, 2009
Lori’s Legacy Fund was established in 1996. It honours the memory of Lorna-Lynn Martin who died of cancer at the age of 35. Her parents established a memorial fund for their daughter. Since 1996, the Fund has raised almost one million dollars to enhance the healing environment at St. Joeph’s Hospital. The new facilitiy is now known as The Lorna-Lynn (Lori) Martin Chemotherapy Clinic. The Fund continues to support the Lori’s Rooms and chemotherapy clinic, and is now working with St. Joe’s to enhance the healing environment via research, education, and refurbishing Quiet Rooms for patients and families. Future plans include expanding cancer diagnostic and treatment facilities in Toronto’s West End. The Bloor/Dundas Avenue Study City Planning report (including comments and feedback from City staff) will go forward to Toronto and East York Community Council at it’s May or June meeting. You will have an opportunity to make a deputation (in writing or in person) at this meeting. I will be sending out information to my mailing list on the exact date of this meeting once it has been confirmed, as well as how to register to depute. Of course, I will also be posting information on my website at www.gordperks.ca
