Last fall, before the municipal election, a major development at 1100 King Street West received its final necessary approvals at the Ontario Municipal Board. The original development application was filed in 2002. This major development lies on vacant land, between the City Works yard and the Railway Corridor. It runs along the railway tracks north of King St.West and east of Dufferin Street. When fully-developed, this site will include multiple townhouses and a 19-storey tower. As a result of the OMB decision, the City has little power, at this late date, to alter the development. Despite this situation, I have begun to meet with the developer and his design team to see how this major development can be best made to benefit the community even at this late date. We will keep you posted.
